Thanksgiving is a time when friends and family come together, to celebrate and give thanks for all the great things in our lives. What better way to spread the holiday cheer, than by sharing a drink (or three) as you laugh, cook, eat, and spend time together?
Here’s a collection of holiday inspired craft cocktails, ranging from simple to moderately challenging (nothing too crazy, we promise!), for you to try out as you celebrate and raise a glass with your loved ones this season. Happy Thanksgiving, and cheers, from the Hunterdon spirits team!
From our friends at Barr Hill, an update on one of their most classic fall cocktails
2 oz Barr Hill Gin or Tom Cat Reserve Gin
.5 oz fresh lime juice
.5 oz Hamilton Pimento Dram
1 oz fresh apple cider
Garnish: apple slice
Combine Tom Cat, lime, Pimento (allspice) Dram, and cider in a shaker with ice, and shake until well chilled. Soak an apple slice with 3-4 dashed of Angostura bitters. Strain cocktail into coupe glass, and garnish with bitter soaked apple.

10 oz Ironbound Cider
3 oz Allagash White*
3 oz Town Branch Bourbon*
Fill pint glass with 10 oz cider. Add 3 oz each of Allagash White and Town Branch Bourbon. Give a quick stir, and enjoy.
*adjust ratios of Allagash and Town Branch to suit your taste and desired strength
Lexington Rye Mule
Forget the vodka: this year try a simple classic done Kentucky style
2 oz Town Branch Rye
Ginger Beer – Try Barritt’s or Rocky’s
Fill highball glass with ice. Add Town Branch Rye, squeeze a lime wedge into the glass, and drop it in. Top glass with ginger beer, and stir gently.
This cranberry-orange relish inspired Negroni variation by our spirits manager Jeremiah Goldovitz gives you both a cocktail AND a side dish
1 oz Manatawy Still Works Hidden River Barrel Aged Gin
.75 oz Carpano Antica
.5 oz Campari
2 barspoons cranberry-orange relish*
2-3 dashes Bittermens New England Spiced Cranberry Bitters
Garnish: orange peel, cranberries, rosemary
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice, and stir until well chilled. Pour through a fine strainer into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice (or one large cube). Garnish with orange peel, and a few fresh cranberries speared on a sprig of rosemary.
*Cranberry Orange Relish
2 cups fresh cranberries
1 medium sized orange
1 cup sugar
Wash orange well, and cut into quarters, removing any visible seeds. Put cranberries, orange (peel and all), and sugar into food processor, and pulse until roughly chopped. Stir to make sure sugar is incorporated, and then continue pulsing until well mixed and finely chopped. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, overnight if possible. Use some in the cocktails, and serve the rest with turkey dinner!

1.5 oz OOLA Rosemary Vodka
.5 oz Cynar
.5 oz fresh lemon juice
1-2 drops Bittermens New England Spiced Cranberry Bitters
Garnish: lemon twist
Combine OOLA Rosemary Vodka, Cynar, and lemon in a mixing glass, and stir with ice until chilled. Strain into a coupe, top with 1724 tonic, and finish with 1-2 drops of cranberry bitters. Garnish with lemon twist.
For dessert, try this minty bourbon cream martini, from our North Jersey specialist Gary Vecchiarelli
2 oz OOLA Waitsburg Bourbon
2 oz Black Button Bespoke Bourbon Cream
2 oz Ballast Point Fugu Horchata Vodka
.5 oz green Crème de Menthe
Garnish: mint leaves
Shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled. Strain into a martini glass laced with chocolate syrup, and garnish with a fresh sprig of mint. Optionally, you can rim the glass with crushed graham crackers.
