New Releases Slider — 13 September 2017

A Summertime twist on a new favorite. We took our Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale and added a hint of fresh tangerine to the recipe. The flavors of ripe citrus and bourbon vanilla meld perfectly into this traditional cream ale, with notes of Kentucky bourbon and oak on the finish. ABV: 5.5%

BLACK FANG: 1/6 kegs & 500mL bottles

A mead with elements of sweet blackberries, clove, and orange zest. Deep red with an enduring lacy white head. Sweet, pungent yet balanced clove, spicy yeast with a floral honey back. Sweet and smooth with a full-bodied, dark berry wine character. Reminiscent of Spanish sangria and Garnacha grape wine. The creamy and carbonated mouthfeel finishes dry with a firm clove aftertaste. ABV: 6.0%

DUDES RUG CIDER: 500mL bottles

A hard cider with elements of apple cider and chai tea. Dark amber and clear with a foamy white head that dissipates into a thin white rim. Sweet, fresh apples with notes of cinnamon, clove, cardamom, ginger and raisin. Sweet, baked apples followed by a vivid blend of clove and cardamom. Black tea rounds out the flavor and leaves little to no tannin. Medium-bodied with a crisp, red apple skin aftertaste. ABV: 5.5%

As days get shorter and sleeves get longer, Baxter Brewing releases its fall seasonal, Hayride Autumn Ale. A generous portion of two rye malts give the beer a full body, bready flavor, and subtle spiciness; while toasted malts provide a touch of sweetness and a rich, almost reddish hue. New Zealand Pacifica and Pacific Jade hops balance Hayride’s maltiness and suggest notes of oranges and tropical fruit. Finally, we cold-condition the beer on oak, with light additions of ginger, black pepper, and orange peel, bringing out the spiciness of the rye and rounding out the soft sweetness of the beer. Hayride will give a touch of warmth for those cool fall nights, while remaining deliciously drinkable. ABV: 6.6%

STOWAWAY IPA: 4/6C packs

Baxter’s flagship Stowaway India Pale Ale put Maine on the IPA map in 2011 and there’s been no looking back. Double-dry-hopped with close to 500 pounds of hops per batch, Stowaway’s bitter character is of course enticing for any veteran hop head. BUT, the solid malt backbone makes this beer approachable enough and drinkable enough for any beer drinker to tackle, even with its don’t-mess-with-me 7% ABV. To top it all off, after a long, full three weeks in the tanks, this full-bodied beer has a dry, crisp finish virtually unheard of in the style category. It’s no wonder Stowaway is the best-selling Maine Made IPA in the northeast! Pairs best with: spicy Thai or curry dishes; carrot cake; big, earthy cheeses like Stilton or aged, clothbound cheddar. ABV: 6.9%

Tarnation Maine Lager is brewed in a style that is truly unique to American brewing and is one of the largest-scale lagers produced in New England. Tarnation is dry and balanced beyond belief; malt-forward and drinkable; rich and complex but approachable and true-to-style. Not your Dad’s canned beer; this lager, which ferments with an authentic San Francisco lager yeast, requires several weeks of cold conditioning (“lagering”), but we think it’s worth the wait. At-home at the dinner table or in the daypack, Tarnation is arguably the most versatile beer in the Baxter portfolio (and, according to the Portland Press Herald, “one of my favorite beers in the Baxter lineup”). Pairs with: Chicken and turkey; shellfish; and lightly-browned meats, like pork chops. It’s also a great match for richer goat cheeses, like Humboldt Fog, and lighter cheddars and jack cheeses. ABV: 5.3%

Clocking in at a drinkable 5.5% ABV, Per Diem is a dry-but-balanced, rich-but-not-heavy, light-bodied porter, which is the first beer brewed by Baxter to feature Belgian yeast. ABV: 5.5%

VARIETY: 2/12CN packs

A 12 can variety, which includes 3 cans each of Pamola Xtra Pale Ale, Stowaway IPA, Tarnation Lager, and Per Diem Porter.

This bourbon is not defined by geography, but by taste. ABV: 46%

Devilishly drinkable. San Diego may be known for its sunny disposition, but Devil’s Share Moonshine Whiskey is undeniable evidence of a darker, more mischievous side. Crafted using our custom-built Vendome copper hybrid pot/column still, this former bootlegger’s spirit is surprisingly smooth. Sweet and floral with a distinct malty profile and hints of tropical fruit, its higher proof lends a distinct warming character. A welcome presence, by day or night. ABV: 49.3%

SAMHAIN: 1/6 kegs

Here lies a special brew for a very important day… On October 31st, it is said the veil between this world and the afterlife is at its thinnest point of the whole year, making it easier to communicate with those who have left this world. Pronounced “Sah-ween” our pumpkin ale is named after an ancient Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the “darker half” of the year. Brewed with caramelized malts and sugars for a rich sweetness that is balanced perfectly by a special blend of hops and spices. Lots and lots of jack-o-lanterns were sacrificed to give this beer it’s deep color and a flavor of the fall that intensifies with every sip. ABV: 8.0%

OAK-AGED VANILLA WORLD WIDE STOUT: 1/6 kegs & 24/12 packs

Rare and often rumored about in the darkest corners of the beer community, World Wide Stout is dark, rich, roasty and complex, and lingers somewhere beyond the limits of the average beer. Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, we’ve now taken this Dogfish Head classic and aged it on oak with real vanilla beans! With a little tender love and care we foster this beer from smooth, sweet wort into the big, bad blackend stout it always longed to be. Its bold, port-like complexity goes great with (or as) dessert. With its high ABV, this is an excellent candidtate for cellaring, so grab a few bottles to enjoy now and lay the others down for a few years. ABV: 16-17.5%

ALTERNATE TAKES #6: 1/6 kegs

We were inspired to create our own iteration of a Bavarian-style Weizenbock, a style known for a being rich & malty with notes of chocolate, bananas & toasted malt. Ours was styled to be a play on a ‘chocolate covered banana’ so we selected toasted carob pods to provide intense, earthy chocolate flavors & rounded out by aging on Madagascar vanilla beans. Brewed with malted wheat, dark Munich malt & chocolate wheat & fermented with a traditional weizen yeast to boost the banana & spice notes that typify the style. ABV: 8.0%
