What started out as a daydream while studying in the hop fields quickly became a reality for Troegs Independent Brewing. Field Study is a slightly hazy IPA dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado to deliver notes of ripe grapefruit, mango, pear, and melon with a backbone of local rustic pale malt.
Similar to their recent Double IPA LolliHop, Field Study began as a small-batch release as part of their experimental Scratch Series.
“Field Study began life as Scratch #327, when we first started tinkering with some new hopping techniques,” explains Tröegs brewmaster John Trogner. “We built on those experiments over the next few Scratch releases and landed on a grain bill featuring a backbone of local Rustic Pale Malt.”
With the hop combination and grain bill selected, and a few final tweeks later, Troegs Field Study was born! It's shipping out to stores across the Garden State in 6-pack bottles and 12-pack cans now.
